Paul Bratney

I first started working with seed industry in 1977.  Early projects were F/S in Williams, Iowa; NC+ in Hastings, Nebraska; and Wilson Hybrids, Harlan, Iowa. I was President and CEO of Bratney Companies, Des Moines, Iowa from 1989 through 2014.  I have held the position of Chairman of the Board of KBC Group since 2014.  I have served on the board of the US Grains Council as Agri-Business Director.

I have worked on the design of facility / conditioning side of the business beginning with needs assessment, conceptual design, permit acquisition, construction contract negotiations, construction, start-up, and hand over.    I have worked with owners, insurance companies, buyers, and sellers.  I personally have worked with seedsmen from the corn, soybean, wheat, oats, rice, and barley.   I've done related work in popcorn, malt barley, tree nuts, edible beans, and ag food snacks, which all use the same skills as do much of the seed industry.  I have designed and completed projects on three continents.

I served in USMC 1970 to 1973, graduated Montana State University with a degree in engineering in 1977 and received a Professional Engineering License in 1984 from State of Iowa.
